Island Drum Camp Take your playing to the next level! Drum camp – a drumming extravaganza… Three days of drumming workshops in the beautiful Comox Valley (Royston Community Hall). Learn from expert World Beat instructor Jordan Hanson from the University of Victoria’s School of Music.
• You are welcome to mix & match workshops - take as many or as few as you would like. • The workshops are open to all levels of playing experience. • Instruments are provided for all of the workshops, including djembes, krins, bass drums and xylophones. Please note that all registrations are non-refundable after October 1, 2016 Drum Rhythms from Mali (Friday 6-8 pm) Mali is home to the ancient Mande Empire, where djembe playing was born. It is also one of the most musically rich countries in the world. The playing style in Mali is different from the playing style in Guinea or Senegal. In this workshop you will learn a djembe rhythm from Mali, and if there is time, the bass drum parts as well.
