On my gouache! Ready to try something new? Gouache (pronounced ghu-wash) paintings have a distinctly saturated, matte appearance letting them stand out from a crowd. Similiar to water colour paints, gouache is fun to learn.

This workshop is a perfect for all skill and experience levels. Beginners and non-painters are encouraged to join. You’ll be learning and experimenting in a fun, low stress environment.

In this workshop you’ll learn:

Gouache basics – what is it? How is it used?

Colour theory and mixing – a chance to play with colour and paint

Landscape composition basics

Layering techniques

If time permits Michelle will also have acrylic gouache to experiment with as well.

Participants can work step-by-step through a seascape with Michelle, or may choose their own subject/composition. There will be a plenty of time to experiment and play with the gouache before moving on to our final piece. You’ll leave with at least one finished 8 X 10 painting on paper and a stack of colourful experiments to proudly share with family and friends.

All supplies will be supplied by the instructor and will include:

Gouache paint

Paint palettes

Brushes

Mixed media paper

Pencils and erasers
