Introduction to Encaustics with Tony Bounsall

PLEASE NOTE this class was originally scheduled for August, but changed to this date in September.
Learn to use encaustic medium (Beeswax and damar resin)and paints to create unique artwork that literally glow with warmth.
We will cover the following:
Introduction to the medium, brief history of encaustics safe use of tools and materials the use of the heat gun, blow torch and iron as fusing tools mixing colours, basic layering, priming and fusing, creating smooth/textured surfaces, incorporating collage, surface photo transfer gouging and filling gouges with medium and oil paint This workshop is a total of 12 hours of instruction over two days.
Tony is a very well known and valued instructor and his encaustics workshops are very popular in the greater Victoria area,

About Tony: Tony has been working professionally as a commercial photographer/graphic designer for thirty years and is a photo arts graduate (BAPA) from Ryerson Polytechnical University. For the last 14 years he has been teaching visual arts and photography. He is currently on the Faculty of The Vancouver Island School of Art teaching collage, Alternative Photography, Photo-Based Mixed Media and Printmaking.
Tony has also taught classes and workshops at The Denman Island Arts Centre, The Old School House in Qualicum Beach (TOSH), Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts (MISSA), UVIC Continuing Studies, Camosun College Continuing Studies, Red Deer College Series Summer Arts School and Leading Edge Workshops in Calgary. Tony is also past Board President and participating Board member of MISSA.
Over the last 14 years, Tony has worked in several different mediums, including digital artwork, iphoneography, alternative based photography, mixed media, collage, printmaking and encaustics. His classes are innovative relaxed and inclusive.
