International Vulture Awareness Day

Vultures are the most endangered group of birds on the world - help us save them! Join us on September long weekend for vulture-themed demonstrations and talks, BBQ, silent auction, face painting and more! Our donors include Cheers Cowichan Tours, Eagle Wing Whale Watching, Phillip's Brewery, David's Tea and many others. Learn more about these amazing birds and their importance in different ecosystems worldwide, including our summer residents - the Turkey Vulture!
Here's a fact: "Without vultures, the feral dog population in India grew to approximately 5.5 million animals, all thriving on the extra food [without the vultures]. Around 38.5 million more humans were bitten by dogs, leading to more than 47,000 additional human deaths from rabies. Studies now show that this cost the Indian economy more than $34 billion in medical expenses" (The Peregrine Fund).
All money raised from the event will go to the Raptor Rescue Society and the Peregrine Fund in effort to save these incredible birds!
