Intercultural Leadership Retreat for Women April 8, 9 & 10, 2016 at beautiful Kiwi Cove Lodge in Ladysmith, BC a unique opportunity for women to develop and expand their leadership capacity toward a collaborative environment in the community.


The Intercultural Leadership Retreat for Women will provide an opportunity for emerging and established women leaders to explore one’s own biases and value systems to promote meaningful partnerships, based on understanding not assumptions. Explore an Indigenous perspective on the history and current impact of colonization and opportunities to share best practices for engaging in respectful intercultural relationships.


Throughout the weekend attendees can enjoy the beautiful grounds of Kiwi Cove- Ten acres of peaceful green space, estuary waterfront, 12 spacious guest rooms that overlook a kiwi vineyard; taking advantage of scheduled breaks that leave time for walks in nature, yoga and artistic activities.


Workshops Facilitators include: Janis Jonasen belongs to the Gitxsan First Nations of Northern BC. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University. Her passion is developing programs that strengthen leadership capacity and empower individuals to reach their goals. Currently, Janis supports Residential School Survivors and their families in communities across Vancouver Island as well as provincially and nationally.


Samantha Letourneau has worked in partnership with the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development, West Coast Leaf, and the Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society in diversity and cultural safety programming. Letourneau holds a Master in Adult Education and BA in Global Studies. She was the recipient of the Marie Gillen Award in 2015 for her master’s research that focused on the effects of art engagement on Canadian women impacted by abuse.
