7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Iaido does not include direct contact or sparring of any kind but instead the emphasis is on precise, fluid and controlled motion. Skill development is through the practice of traditional sword techniques or waza. A meditative and reflective mindset allows one to contemplate life and death and consider compassion in the use of a sword. Reishiki, the bowing in ceremony teaches respect and self control in the dojo, but also sets your practice apart from the stresses of your daily life.

Classes are held weekly and registration is ongoing through Nanaimo Parks & Recreation. If you enjoy your free trial class, sign up for the session (it will be pro-rated if the session has already begun). If you find you want to become more involved, you can consider Todo Kai to be your dojo and continue to register for sessions in order to advance your skill level, and participate in testing seminars when Senseis travel from Japan to assess the Canadian students Todo Kai Iaido Club is a non-profit society dedicated to the teaching and maintaining of the spirit of Budo and the curriculum of MusoJikiden Eishen Ryu Iaido in Canada. Alright. I'm coming to try it out.
