A Roundtable Leader will guide HR practitioners through a discussion on specific topics related to the field of Human Resources. Participants are encouraged to actively engage in the discussion, ask questions, and provide real scenarios. A variety of formats will be used depending on the topic and the facilitator (i.e. group discussions, case studies etc.).

Topic and facilitator Information: Managing with a Collective Agreement

Discussion will focus around Labour Relations; including a brief overview of the B.C. Labour Relations Board, Labour Relations Code and the Employment Standards Act.

The collective agreement will be the focal point; what is the big picture? what is a collective agreement? who is responsible to interpret and apply the collective agreement? management rights clauses, just cause, progressive discipline, mitigating factors, and discussion about the grievance procedure and grievance meetings.
