How to Create the Robust Watercolour Painting with Elaine Hughes

In this class we will explore ways to make your watercolour paintings bolder, brighter, and more powerful. The sessions will focus on materials, secondly on how to create strong value contrasts in your work, and finally, how to use colour intensity to your advantage. You will be asked to bring examples of your own work that you feel are too timid, dull or muddy, as well as reference material that you want to work form and your usual paints and papers.

Through classroom exercises, demos, critiques and working through new versions of your subject, you will learn how to bring more vibrancy to your work.

This course is designed for people who have already have some experience with watercolour painting.

Bring one of your paintings that you feel turned out too pale, too dull or too muddy, plus your reference photo for it. (The instructor will also have some photos available.)
