One of Canada's longest running primitive skills gatherings, firemaker is celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year! Taking place on Vancouver Island in the Comox valley, firemaker is a non-profit community event run by volunteers. For one week every summer people gather to campout in a beautiful place & create a village; where they learn, teach, practice and share earth based skills... Skilled and passionate instructors lead workshops... Evenings are spent around the fire singing & storytelling...Delicious food is shared...Friendships are created and renewed... Through this week long immersion, a deepened connection with self, others, nature & the old ways is experienced. And an awareness on another level is sparked, inspiring people to use the skills they've learned at firemaker to live simpler, more sustainable lives.
