Are you coming to Festival Nanaimo?
 
Festival Nanaimo turns three and like most annual events, it has grown with each year with more events and activities being offered by more organizations and businesses during the month of March. "I am so excited to be working with people that love their city as much as I do!" says Margot Holmes, creator of Festival Nanaimo.   "March is a month when arts organizations have great programming with concerts, dance, exhibits, interactive programs to spark your imagination. By working together with our Signature Festival Partners we are able to showcase the amazing artistic talent in Nanaimo as part of a Festival" says Holmes.


Throughout the month of March you can enjoy 8 Festival Nanaimo Signature Events at various venues around the city! The Port Theatre, one of the Festival Partners, presents Kiran Ahluwalia on March 1 and the internationally acclaimed Celtic Tenors return to Nanaimo on March 2nd with their rich tenor voices and celtic charm. That same week, on March 3rd the 14th Annual Wee Tipple Party takes place, where you can sample some delicious whisk(e)ys from around the world.  Lucky Irish Spirit takes place on St. Paddy's Day with the fabulous Celtic Band, Rant Maggie Rant backed by the VI Symphony on March 17th and the next day on March 18th we celebrate with David Gogo’s Birthday Blues Bash – with the birthday boy himself, David Gogo and his musical buddies: Shawn Hall, David Vest, Shaun Verreault presenting an unforgettable night of the Blues!  On Sunday, March 19th, it’s "who let the dogs out" with Hops and Hounds at Maffeo Sutton Park with beer tastings and there will be a gathering of adorable pooches (and their owners) for a massive dog photo for 2017! No bites at that event... but at this next one, there will be - SoundBites happens on March 23rd and featuring the world's most popular composer MOZART, with two, one hour shows with appetizers or dessert!  On March 25th, our final Signature Event is Lion, Bear, Fox NEW CD Release Party at The Port Theatre with many hometown fans eagerly awaiting this day!  ...And don't forget to smell the roses with Symphony of Roses Day on March 22nd.


One of the most popular events at Festival Nanaimo is PirateFest!  This family fun event has grown to include  5 days of Pirate fun! Country Club Centre is PirateFest Headquarters from March 21-24 with free activities all week leading up to PirateFest Day on March 25th with lots of activities downtown and guest what The Purple Pirate is here doing a Show...get your tickets mateys!


In addition to these 8 Signature Events, the Nanaimo Art Gallery has a great exhibit and spring break camps; Crimson Coast  Dance is presenting their annual Body Talk Youth program, Nanaimo Museum has activities happening throughout  Spring Break; TheatreOne presents Peter Pan as part of its Just Kidding Family Series; and the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce presents "Dine About” in over 40 local restaurants! Hotel Specials offered!
