Come Enjoy Soup for a Good Cause
On December 5, 2013, the Woodlands Student Council will be hosting its third "Empty Bowl Project" in the school cafeteria. Each ticket costs $10 for students and $15 for adults, and all proceeds will be given to the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank. The student leaders hope to raise over $1,500.
The purpose of the Empty Bowl Project is to raise money and awareness for ending hunger. Woodlands Student Council will be contributing all their proceeds to Loaves and Fishes so that they continue their work to meet this goal here in Nanaimo. At the event, homemade soups will be provided, and ticket holders will be served dinner in a handcrafted bowl of their choice. People leave with a full stomach and their empty bowl!
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger and was created by The Imagine Render Group. As with the original event, all of the bowls that are offered to the Woodlands guests have been handmade by students and members of the community, so attendees can be sure to receive a beautiful and creative bowl to take home. The empty bowl symbolizes the empty bowls in the world.
On the night of the event, not only will there be a variety of delicious soups, but there will also be a silent auction and door prizes. Anybody that attends the event can be sure that they will leave with a warm feeling in their heart and stomach.
Tickets are available from Woodlands Secondary. Call 250-753-2271 to buy tickets.
