Draw by Drawing is a weekly online drop-in session via Zoom sponsored by the Vancouver Island School of Art and is hosted by artist and educator Wendy Welch.

Participants do not need any drawing experience to attend and while these are not “how-to-draw” sessions, instructional information will be provided to complete each week’s projects. These are not step-by-step drawing instruction sessions. But rather it is an opportunity for a group of like-minded individuals to draw together. The facilitator, Wendy Welch, will present a drawing “prompt” each week and the participants will draw together.Each week there will be a different prompt to get you drawing. By attending these sessions on a weekly basis (or as often as you can), you will quickly realize that you learn to draw “by drawing”. This is a great way to have a relaxing evening and get away from all your day-to-day troubles. The main focus of each session is to draw together in a group. The facilitator will be doing the projects alongside the participants. When the facilitator is talking, there will often be music playing while you draw.
