A Distinguished Women Scholars Public lecture hosted by the Department of Greek and Roman Studies presents:

Dr. Joy Connolly (President, American Council of Learned Societies) will present a lecture entitled:

Imagining Communities: Thinking Over and Across Borders

Dr. Joy Connolly is the President of the American Council of Learned Societies and a scholar whose work extends from politics and rhetoric in ancient Rome to classics in the contemporary landscape. This lecture examines Roman writers who saw imagination as a binding force for communal identity – raising timely questions for us today about cultural appropriation and imperialism.
