Creative writing is driven by imagination and vision, what is sometimes labelled talent. But talent is nothing without knowledge of craft and without practice or discipline. We will read examples from different genres of creative writing: fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. We�ll identify and discuss what works and why. We'll touch on voice, point-of-view, character, metaphor. Discussion will be amply interspersed with in-class writing exercises in which you will experiment with different techniques based on what you�ve read and aimed at freeing up your writing. In a relaxed and playful atmosphere, you will entice your muse.
