But talent is nothing without knowledge of craft and without practice or discipline. We will read examples from different genres of creative writing: fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. We’ll identify and discuss what works and why. We'll touch on voice, point-of-view, character, metaphor. Discussion will be amply interspersed with in-class writing exercises in which you will experiment with different techniques based on what you’ve read and aimed at freeing up your writing.
