Cowichan Valley Ride Don't Hide 2015

What:

There is a 26km for enthusiastic riders and a 10km ride for novice riders and families. Both rides will take place on the Trans Canada / Cowichan Valley Trail. Riders depart from, and return to the Cowichan Valley Regional District – Glenora Trails Head Park. All riders are expected to wear a helmet, follow the rules of the trail and ride safely along the trails. Average rider estimated time is 1.5 hours for the longer ride.

10/26km course. There will also be a 1km turnaround point for families with little ones.

Who:


Families, community members and cyclists of all levels are invited to join the movement, in teams or as individual riders, while enjoying one of the Valley’s nicest bike routes.

What time:

    8:30 – 9:30 AM:  Registration (necessary for all riders)
    10:00 AM:  Ride Begins!
    11:30 AM – 2:30 PM:  Lunch and Post-Ride Celebration

What is the Cost:

    Up to April 30th: Early Bird Registration $30.00 including t-shirt
    May 1st: $35.00 including t-shirt
    Kids 12 and under are free: T-shirt may be purchased for $12.00 each

How many: Our goal this year is 200 riders!

Event Day:  Upon their return to GlenoraTrailheadPark, riders will enjoy a free BBQ lunch with prizes, speakers, activities and live entertainment. There will be music, face painting for kids, bike tune-ups, cycling displays, information on mental health services and resources in our community.

Prizes will be awarded at the event to the teams and individuals who raise the most money for this important cause in the CowichanValley. Form a team and challenge another local business to compete!

 Virtual Ridership: If you are unable to participate live at the event by bike riding, there are plenty of ways to contribute to this important cause. Become a Virtual Rider! Virtual Riders register for free, with the opportunity to share about their stories of how and why they have come to participate in Ride Don’t Hide.

Volunteers: Volunteers are the heart of making this event possible. Volunteers will receive a BBQ lunch and thank-you package including a free T-Shirt with the Ride Don’t Hide Logo on it. A large thank you poster will be displayed at the event with the names of all volunteers, and a post-event newspaper ad will also include these invaluable contributions.

CMHA Cowichan

The Cowichan Valley branch is proud to host this exciting and important event for the 3nd year in a row. Our programming for mental health here in the Valley includes the following programs:

-Family Capacity Program — Support for parents facing the daily challenges of   raising a family.
-Rainbows – A support group for children who have suffered a significant loss in their lives through divorce, death or any other painful transition.
-Disordered Eating Program – Support to parents and youth addressing issues and concerns regarding eating disorders.
-Sexual Abuse Intervention Program — Counseling and services to children and youth who have experienced sexual assault.
-U-Fix It Bikeworks — providing space, tools, parts and an adult role model to help young people fix bikes.
