Community, arts and spiritual values: Challenging patterns of addiction
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Canadian artist Edward Epp has painted for over forty years. His work as an educator and counsellor has led him to the intersection of these disciplines. The role of spiritual values, community, and the arts in establishing and nurturing patterns of mental health are strong themes in his life and in his work.
In his own words: “If artistic ventures contribute as ‘service’ to individuals and to the community that would make me feel that they had achieved a high level of ‘success’. In my own life, in addition to exhibiting in many public and commercial galleries, working with community service projects for youth in BC, such as “night’s alive” in Prince Rupert and with art-centered healing projects with youth in Massett, Kitkatla, Malahat, Halalt and Pennelkut have been mutual learning sites.”
