Saturday, January 18th, 2014
4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

The 7th annual event will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2014, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Bowen Park Auditorium in Nanaimo.

Net proceeds this year will go to Philippine disaster relief.

The event jointly celebrates the Scottish poet Robert Burns' 255th birthday and the Chinese Year 4711, also known as "Year of the Horse".

Swan, who immigrated to Canada from China before meeting and marrying Scottish-Canadian Lloyd MacIlquham, loves the idea of educating the public, celebrating her culture and helping the community at a humourous and fun family occasion.

"Our two sons look forward to this event every year", she says. Swan draws talent from her many friends in the Chinese community of Nanaimo.

Lloyd will act as Master of Ceremonies again, bringing his own eclectic brand of humour, celebrating "Hogmany, Chinese style".

The colourful celebration will encompass classical Chinese entertainment and traditional Scottish dance and music. The dinner buffet will include their unique Chinese/Scottish fusion favourites, such as 'Haggis Wonton' as well as 'Neeps & Tatties Spring Rolls'.

The event is family friendly and open to the public.

Tickets are $20 per person and $10 for children between the ages of 6 - 10. Full table reservations are available for groups of 8 or more.

To buy tickets, please contact Swan MacIlquham at 250-729-9948 or email Nanaimo Chinese Language & Art Center at: [email protected].
Tickets are available in advance only.

This event sells out fast, so please get your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

You can hear Swan & Lloyd on Fridays at 11 am, when they host their weekly radio show, the "SinoNaimo News with Lloyd & Swan" on local radio station, CHLY 101.7. http://chly.ca/the-program-schedule
