Chief Dt'sahyl, Adam Gagnon "Jurisdiction, Rights and Reconciliation" (bldg 356 rm 109) is a must-attend event happening at Vancouver Island University. Join us for an insightful discussion led by Chief Dt'sahyl. This in-person event promises to be enlightening and engaging, so mark your calendars and be sure to attend.

In October 2021, hereditary Likhts’amisyu (fireweed) Clan Chief Dt'sahyl (Adam Gagnon) was arrested and charged with criminal contempt after his environmental activism against the construction of a liquified natural gas pipeline on ancestral unceded Wet’suwet’en traditional territory. During an historic 3-year trial, in July 2024 the Chief was found guilty of violating the 2018 injunction that prohibited impeding the construction.

Chief Dt'sahyl will share his knowledge and experience, building opportunity for discussion on jurisdiction, rights, and reconciliation.

Guest moderators will assist with our conversation, and light refreshments will be served.

There will be an Amnesty International info table, and student hosts from THEA 108 assisting.
