Sunday, September 22nd, 2013 marks the second coming of one of a kind local culinary event: Brewery & The Beast, Victoria's annual Festival of Meat, hosted once again at the Phillips Brewery (2010 Government St).

Last year saw 28 of the capital region's top restaurants and meat specialists transform the Phillips Brewery into a giant backyard BBQ. This year the bar will be set even higher as more than 30 talented chefs from throughout Victoria and the surrounding area demonstrate their skill and passion for cooking through a wide variety of mouth-watering dishes. Themed offerings of the day will include classic BBQ, charcuterie, smoked meats, house-made sausage, ethnic-inspired creations, whole animal roasts, and other full-flavoured, exotic foods.

In addition to the diverse selection of premium meats at Brewery & The Beast, it's important to emphasize food education, said event mastermind Scott Gurney, an 18-year veteran of the food and beverage industry in BC. "We want people who come to this event to embrace the restaurants and quality of food they are serving, as well as a greater understanding of the food they consume and where it comes from."

Recreational foodies and refined connoisseurs alike will truly embrace Brewery & The Beast. The festival focuses on food education, promotion of local farms and businesses, and superb cuisine: all meats served will be locally-sourced, hormone and antibiotic free, and ethically-raised. Paired with these decadent dishes will be craft beers and homemade sodas provided by the award-winning Phillips Brewing Company along with Merridale Cider, specialty coffees, and traditionally brewed ice tea.

Brewery & The Beast is proud to support The BC Hospitality Foundation with partial proceeds from this year's event. The BCHF provides financial assistance to workers in the industry unable to earn income due to long-term illness or injury.
