Calling all nature-lovers and community volunteers...we need you! 2nd ANNUAL Barsby Park Clean-up A volunteer-lead clean-up of Barsby Park with City of Nanaimo Parks, Recreation and Environment.
Last year, in two hours, we removed 800 lbs. of garbage from this park!
What is Barsby Park? A charming heritage park in the heart of downtown Nanaimo brimming with wildlife and local flora. It runs parallel with the Millstone River and boasts views of salmon runs and the Nanaimo harbour.
Where is Barsby Park? ❀ north end of Prideaux St at Mill St. (parking at the big gravel park lot) or ❀ south end of Caledonia Ave, turn at Rosehill St. (parking by German Cultural Centre, and walk over bridge) When? Saturday, March 12th, 2015 10 am > 12 noon (rain or shine) Things of interest in Barsby Park: ❀ river otters ❀ spring wildflowers ❀ harbour seals ❀ herons, kingfishers & many other birds ❀ salmon ❀ Millstone River ❀ heritage sights Let's make this special place somewhere beautiful again!
