Wednesday, June 18th, AV Transition Town Society 6pm mtg, 7pm #Bold Action the call for moral action on climate change
President Obama recently enacted new legislation to limit greenhouse gas production from coal burning power plants in the US. Big coal immediately responded that thousands of jobs would be lost and the price of energy would go up. Archbishop Tutu harshly criticized tar sands oil production during his trip to Fort McMurray two weeks ago. Chief Allan Adam, the host of Tutu's visit responded that "we're not against development...we'll never get rid of the use of fossil fuels. Control the substances that are going into the Athabasca River--that's what we're really after." The journey to a low carbon future is complicated by opposing viewpoints and different agendas. Our challenge is to sort through them all and make wise decisions about our future. In an effort to foster discussion on what is at stake and how to get to achieve a sustainable future, Alberni Valley Transition Towns will be showing #Bold Action. This is a presentation of a live streamed discussion from Vancouver called The Call for Moral Action on Climate Change. Admission by donation. Bring a friend and your ideas.
