African Hand Drumming with April Laurie

No experience is necessary, but it is a benefit to have previous musical knowledge or a curisity for how we create music together. We will go over correct posture of body, drum, and hands. We will cover some basic rhythms taught to me by David Thaiw of Senegal.
You are welcome to bring a recorder or paper to make notes, but it is not necessary. This workshop is suitable for ages 14 and up. Please contact me to register, and please bring or borrow a djembe style of drum to play. I have 3 drums left i can loan, but i need notice if you need one of these.
I believe that music has a great capacity for healing, and for helping us to release emotion and tension. I hope you will come and drum with us, and perhaps you will discover another tool you can use in your life. Along these lines, I also lead singing workshops.
