9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Lists are a part of most people's daily lives, helping us remember to buy milk or pick up shirts from the laundry or water the roses. Lists can also be a way to chart accomplishments, to envision what we hope to achieve before we die - in other words, the bucket list, that list we are not always comfortable discussing.

Victoria Hospice's Bucket List Festival aims to make the discussion both fun and informative. Experts will offer a wealth of ideas and advice for everyone looking for ways to face end-of-life issues, as patient, caregiver or those who just want to list ways to live life as fully as they can. The program is developed for those with life-limiting illnesses and their caregivers and features experts offering ideas and advice on how to make the most of life at its most precious - when time is limited. The Festival hopes to inspire and equip our audience with tools to get the highest quality of life out of the time they have left and to not allow medical issues to prevent the realization of their bucket list items.

The program will be covering a wide range of topics including: The Unwell Traveller – advice and practical suggestions on navigating the travel industry when you are unwell, and planning for medical needs while abroad; Advance Care Planning – learn how to ensure your final wishes are known before you are unable to state them yourself; Holding a Living Wake – discover how to celebrate your life with your loved ones; How to Really Talk to Your Doctor – how to communicate most effectively with your doctor and get the information you need; Symptoms Management –the most current methods to best manage symptoms and retain the best quality of life possible; Record Me Now: Memoirs – advice and tools on how to create a memoir that will be cherished by your loved ones in years to come; Taking Care of Yourself – a discussion of self-care strategies for caregivers.

This public education event strives to be accessible for anyone facing end-of-life issues or who has an interest in learning more about how to achieve the best quality of life in their remaining days. The Festival continues the compassionate care traditions of Victoria Hospice, a registered charity that has been supporting the local community since 1980 by providing end-of-life care focused on palliative treatment. Participants are required to register prior to the event.

Tickets include coffee/tea/light snacks and also door prizes.
