Celebrate New Year's Day with the annual Peace Walk. Bring yourself, your family, your friends -- and a peace symbol, banner or sign that expresses your personal wish for peace. Meet outside Glenwood Centre. This event is completely free. Families with children are welcome.
10:45 am - Meet outside Glenwood Centre.................(4480 Vimy Street)
11:00 am - Depart for walk to Abbeyfield - easy pace
11:30 am - Open mic on peace theme at Abbeyfield ..................(3839 - 8th Avenue)
1:00 pm - Vegetarian lunch at Guru Nanak Sikh Temple ...................(4144 - 8th Avenue)
NOTE: We will depart Glenwood at 11:00 am for the walk to Abbeyfield. Glenwood Centre will be closed (washrooms not available).
Route: Walk from Glenwood to Abbeyfield via 10th Avenue (enter Abbeyfield via 8th Avenue basement door). Those who have difficulty walking are welcome to meet at Abbeyfield at 11:30 am.
Abbeyfield 8th Avenue entrance is wheelchair accessible. To respect residents' privacy, please do not use front door (off Redford).
Activities at Abbeyfield: short introduction by organizers, then open mic on peace theme. Lunch follows at 1:00 pm at Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, generously offered by members of the congregation. Head coverings are available at the temple, or bring your own scarf.
