You don't know what you've got until it's gone.

I'm not talking about lost love or a misplaced wallet. I'm talking about health. That's because when it's gone, everything else goes with it.
As a normally healthy person, it was quite a shock this week to find myself completely incapacitated by a super flu virus. Unable to do much more than think, it turned out to be quite the philosophical experience.
When we're sick, we're unable to be at our best; and if we're chronically sick we may never even get to discover what our best looks like.
I don't generally make New Year's resolutions, but this year I'll make one: To remember what this feels like, and let it be a motivator to strive for healthier choices every day.
Well that...and to get a flu shot next time.
