The foibles and triumphs of relationships tug at the heartstrings and play for laughs in the Yellow Point Drama Group (YPDG) spring comedy, The Affections of May, running from March 6 to 22. Directed by Gordon McInnis, YPDGs production stars Maureen Molyneux as May, Devon Cathers as Brian, Erik Tully as Quinn, and Brian March as Hank.
Themes of love, identity and self-worth are explored in this warm, insightful romantic comedy by Norm Foster, one of Canadas foremost playwrights. May and her husband Brian have settled into an idyllic life running a B & B in a seaside resort town. When Brian abruptly abandons her to return to the citys bright lights and his mistress May becomes enmeshed in a romantic triangle. Two of the locals come courting: Quinn, a one-time hometown hero turned handyman, and Hank, a lonely banker and mommas boy.
The Affections of May opens Thursday, March 6 with a discounted preview evening (tickets $12) and runs over three weekends on March 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, and 22; doors open at 7 pm and show time is 8 pm (tickets $17 adults/$12 youth).
