Writing from the Inside Out. For anyone who wants to write more powerfully. We have all ready books that have grabbed us emotionally and involved us in the story. We have also ready books in a similar genre, even with a similar story line, that have left us completely cold. What is the difference? Why does one collection of sentences connect with the reader, while another group has no effect? Powerful writing comes from deep within the heart of the writer - but how do we reach in and pull it out?

This interactive workshop will teach the writer to look inside themself in order to bring the characters to life. Rachel (R.J.) McMillen is the author of three books, with a fourth, Green River Falling, to be released by Touchwood Editions in May 2016. Dark Moon Walking, the first book in the Dan Connor mystery series, was nominated for both the Edgar Award and the Kobo emerging writers award in the Genre (Mystery) category. Her poetry has appeared in numerous publications, including the recently released anthology All Our Words Needed Saying. Rachel currently teaches creative writing in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico.
