What does it mean to carry on an ancient tradition when you're living in a new world? Gesar Mukpo, son of a renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher, was three when he was recognized as a tulku, the present-day reincarnation of a spiritual master. Born in the West, Gesar's been trying his entire life to figure out just what that means. In this intensely sincere personal documentary, Gesar meets 4 other tulkus who struggle with the same dilemma: to reconcile an 800-year-old system of power and authority that has been transplanted into a completely different culture.
