World Premiere & DVD:COASTAL TARSANDS Journey to Deleted Islands
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
The filmmakers take a cinematic kayak journey to explore the narrow channels and maze of islands of BC’s North Coast. Precisely where hundreds of supertankers loaded with millions of barrels of Alberta Tar sands will navigate if the Enbridge Corporation has its way. This film takes a first-hand look at the coast, its natural features, the weather, the currents, the wildlife, and the people who live there.
(All proceeds will contribute to this project continuing to raise public awareness)
DVDs will be available for you to help: Spread the Word NOT The Oil.
Comments from the filmmaker - Richard Boyce
I’m proud to be able to present the world premiere of my film in my home town. You might wonder what someone from Errington is doing kayaking the proposed Supertanker route way up along the north coast of British Columbia. The fact is that Supertankers scare people! With my media skills I’m able to share my personal experiences and bring some clarity to this issue with first-hand filmmaking. This feature documentary is the culmination of a project which evolved out of 6 mini-docs which I present on the website: www.CoastalTarSands.ca
Paddling across a narrow channel I couldn’t believe supertankers will be able to make 3 sharp turns of greater than 90 degrees, then a humpback whale burst out of the water right in front of us! What a reality check! See you at the screenings for a Q&A
