Sunday, March 15th, 2015
11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Everyone, regardless of experience or drawing ability, can learn to create an autobiographical comic at a hands-on workshop with graphic novelist Sarah Leavitt at the Campbell River Art Gallery Sunday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The workshop, which costs $75 for Gallery members and $85 for non-members, allows participants to work with Leavitt to learn a series of writing and drawing exercises that will result in the creation of their own autobiographical comic. Leavitt will be in Campbell River for the annual Words on the Water Writers’ Festival and the Campbell River Art Gallery jumped at the chance to have her teach a workshop.

Leavitt’s graphic memoir Tangles: A Story About Alzheimer’s, My Mother and Me, has been published in Canada, the U.S., the U.K, Germany and France to international critical acclaim. Her prose and comics have appeared in anthologies, magazines and newspapers across North America and the United Kingdom. She’s received rave reviews from Vanity Fair, the LA Times and The Globe and Mail, among others.
