10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Prospecting for Irish Gold - a genealogy workshop presented by Heather Jones. Did your Irish ancestors belong to the middle class, have a trade or a business and/or have sufficient financial resources to purchase a lease lasting at least 3 years? If so, then they may be found in the Memorials of Deeds of Ireland.

The registration of Memorials began in 1708 and the LDS films available cover up to 1929. The workshop will cover: the purpose of the documents; which deeds could be registered; the process by which they were created and registered; the type of information contained in the Memorials; how to access the information; problems with the indexes and the Memorials themselves; resources which can provide assistance when using the Memorials; future availability of the documents or extractions from the documents.
