Words and Images - an ekphrastic writing workshop Whether you are an artist interested in the way people describe your paintings, or wishing to add words to your own works, or a writer wondering what images your words could inspire, or wanting to write about your favourite work of art, either way this workshop on ekphrastic art will deepen your understanding of your craft.It will help you use your own works and the writings and paintings of others to take a fresh look at how your approach your creative outlet.

Facilitator: Naomi Beth Wakan is a personal essayist and the Poet Laureate of Nanaimo. She has recently published “On the Arts” a series of essays on various aspects of creativity based on pieces she has written for the American Art magazine, Still Point Arts Quarterly.

Time: Sunday, April 9th, 5 - 6:30 Place: Gabriola Arts and Heritage Centre, 476 South Rd. (next to the post office). For Nanaimo attendees you can walk on the ferry as the centre is just a small walk up a rather steep hill.

Fee: $15 To bring: writing material and a small piece of art (either your own, or a photo of someone’s you admire)
