The curtain has come down after the Lord Chamberlain’s Men’s inaugural performance of Henry V at the Globe Theatre; but instead of enjoying the applause, playwright William Shakespeare has to fend off an embittered actor and avoid a lawyer scheming for fame and fortune.

When a costumer is bitten by a plague-ridden madman, and Queen Elizabeth I herself arrives at the theatre seeking shelter from an infectious disease running rampant in the medieval city streets, life in the playhouse takes a turn for the worse.

As the deadly affliction spreads through London, the Globe is quarantined and the survivors within must fight for their lives…

John Heimbuch’s combination of history and horror is a theatrical masterpiece, complete with wayward clowns, quarreling advisers, bite after bite of monstrous adventure and scholarly nods to Shakespearean tragedies.
