Western Edge’s Scriptwriting Circle is back. And this time we’re bringing the popular workshop to both Nanaimo and Parksville!
Learn the craft of scriptwriting, or polish your skills, as you work on a script for stage, screen, TV, the web, or audio drama. Or work on exercises from workshop leader Frank Moher that will get you started on a script — it’s your call. Either way, you’ll be part of a supportive community of authors while you also receive feedback directly from Frank, an internationally-produced writer and Vancouver Island University Creative Writing instructor.
The workshop meets for six sessions over seven weeks, The Parksville workshop starts Tuesday, May 16th at the McMillan Arts Centre (133 McMillan St.), while the Nanaimo group will meet starting Thursday, May 18th at Kismet Theatre Academy (55 Victoria Rd.). In between, participants will stay in touch online, using a private website custom-created for the workshop.
The seven weeks will culminate with a reading of excerpts from some of the scripts, performed by guest actors.
Whether you’re a beginner, a more experienced writer, or a seasoned pro, the Western Edge scriptwriting workshop is your opportunity to get dramatic!
Workshop leader Frank Moher has written for the CBC, NFB, and various independent producers, and had plays produced internationally. Most recently, his play Big Baby toured Greece, and his latest play, Run in Fields, will premiere at Western Edge in September. He teaches in the Department of Creative Writing & Journalism at Vancouver Island University.
