Since West My Friend was conceived in a Victoria cafe in 2009, the band has emerged as a unique voice in the city�s music scene. Its members are Eden Oliver on vocals and guitar, Jeff Poynter on accordion, Brian Anderson on standup bass, and Alex Rempel on mandolin. Together they produce a sound and repertoire that has been described as indie-roots or chamber-folk, challenging the conventions of popular music in their engaging and innovative performances.

West My Friend crafts its original songs in a collaborative process, each member contributing his or her own ideas and experiences to combine well-crafted lyrics, acrobatic mandolin riffs, flawless bass lines, richly textured accordion accompaniment, and four-part vocal harmonies. The band recently released its first album, �Place�, produced by Adrian Dolan (the Bills, Mark Atkinson).
