The West Coast Farm and Garden Show began as a biennial event in 2016 as an expansion on our annual Seedy Saturday gathering at the Tofino Botanical Gardens. Due to its popularity and the increased interest in sustainable food systems in our region, we will now be hosting the event on an annual basis. The purpose of the event is:

1. To support local producers and backyard growers with the tools and knowledge they require to grow and farm.
2. To create an opportunity for Vancouver Island farmers to connect with individuals, restaurants, retailers, and markets.
3. To foster food security on the west coast through networking and capacity-building with Vancouver Island growers.

This year’s feature events will focus on the future of creating community-scale food systems on the west coast. The vision for our programming is being developed in response to recommendations set out in the Coastal Addendum to the Alberni Agriculture Plan in 2018.

We have a wide range of programming offerings over the weekend - for everyone from the backyard grower, seasoned agriculturist, food lovers and families.
