Using a limited palette, Marilyn takes you through powerful techniques for preserving the white of the paper, creating saturated color and letting the flow of the paint create for you.

Intended for the more experienced painter, award winning artist Marilyn Timms will present a two day hands on session filled with new and exciting approaches for you to broaden your range as an artist. Being an "original" artist requires many new tools in your toolbox so come prepared to work hard, learn much and have fun. We are excited to host Marilyn for another wonderful and instructive watercolour workshop and know this will be well attended for those artists wanting to take their paintings to a new level.

Marilyn calls Gabriola Island home, and will come to Victoria to share her skills and philosophy of painting.......".Being creative is not simply carefully crafting form and design, creativity builds on opening up to brand new ways of seeing. Everything in life is creative so, when one listens to life, new ideas and ways of expressing oneself appear. Life keeps teaching me that the subject is of minimal importance but the exploration of what occurs when paint and water mix, now that is huge.

As a teacher, my job is to excite the student. As a painter, my job is to excite myself (and the viewer). I must feel good when I paint, not confined or restricted in any way. When I feel good, my paintings SING. Listen to life carefully, it sends messages of exploration and change, if we listen."
