Howl the night of Oct. 31 away with Victoria's only all-witch blues band, CURL and stompin' swamp daddies, Bijoux du Bayou at Hermann’s Jazz Club as they bring together the perfect mix of blues and Cajun music to create a spellbinding night.

This is the second Halloween dance for which these two bands have united. Last year’s “New Orleans Halloween” was a full house with crowd-voted costume winners taking home spooooky Halloween prizes to enjoy by the light of the full moon and one lucky couple taking home a door prize to share with their friends at the next witches’ coven.

Costume prizes by popular vote and a door prize will be awarded again this year.

Billing its music as “bitchin’ blues and estro-driven soul,” CURL delivers straight-from-the-heart, Janis Joplin style blues along with humorous banter.

Fresh from successful shows at Victoria’s Blues Bash and Ribfest, their show includes lively music from such artists as Aretha Franklin and Etta James, as well as their own material ranging from funk to fun.

Bijoux du Bayou brings high-energy music combining Cajun, Zydeco, Swing, Calypso, and a few other flavors to create a sound that would make even the walking dead want to do the Boogaloo!

Says Jeff Weaver of CBC Radio, “Hard to believe these fellows didn't grow up sucking crayfish on the shores of Lake Ponchartrain. They can play and write Cajun and Zydeco with the best of them. Even more impressive is that their performances are drenched in the good humor and joie de vivre that the music is famous for.”
