VIU Science and Technology Lecture Series: Chemical Separations - Can They be a Panacea for Industrial & Clinical Problems
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
In this free public lecture Dr. Donkor will discuss how analysis of industrial and clinical samples is challenging because of their complexity and how new, efficient and sensitive methods are needed to address the challenges of these types of real-world samples. In this presentation Dr. Donkor will explore the application of advanced separation techniques such as capillary electrophoresis and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry using examples from an industrial and clinical setting. Examples he will discuss include industrial analyses in highly saline oilfield waters using capillary electrophoresis and clinical analyses of vitreous humor of the human eye for the anti-inflammatory drug, atorvastatin and the use of green tea catechin, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth.
