Global Climate Change & Sustainable Development
Presenter: Dale Bent, PhD, Professor of Management Science (ret)
In his presentation, Dr. Bent will address the question: How do climate change and environmental change challenge achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals?
Dr. Bent, founding Director of the Computing Centre at the University of Alberta and former Associate Vice President, University of Western Ontario, responsible for Computing, Data Processing and Libraries, was founder of the Master’s Program in Information Systems at the University of Wellington in New Zealand. While a graduate student at Stanford University, Dr. Bent was co-developer of the Statistical Program for the Social Sciences (SPSS), designing its system file structure. Dr. Bent, Past Chair of VIU/ElderCollege, has instructed many ElderCollege courses.
Dr. Pamela Shaw, Director of the VIU Master of Community Planning Program and Research Director of the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Reserve Research Institute at VIU, will introduce Dr. Bent.
