VIU’S SPRING JAZZ CONCERTS SHOWCASE STUDENT TALENT APRIL 5 AND 6

Enjoy two evenings of student talent in vocal jazz, big band and combo performances The Music Department invites Jazz lovers to enjoy two nights of great music at our Student Spring Showcase Concerts, at the Malaspina Theatre April 5 and 6 at 7:30 pm. Concert admission is by donation.

The Spring Showcase is an opportunity to hear music played by talented students and some special musical guests from the community.

Taking the stage Tuesday, April 5 will be VIU’s Jazz Combos, the College Singers, and the Vocal Jazz Choir.

Special guests playing on Wednesday, April 6 will be Kwalikum Secondary Big Band, followed by VIU Big Band for the second half of the evening. Jazz Studies graduates go on to pursue a variety of careers in music on a part-time or full-time basis, with many becoming self-employed to pursue opportunities that range from teaching, performance, orchestra positions, musical theatre, self-production and promotion of original music, and music composition for films, videos, games and marketing.
