Consider a career operating heavy equipment like backhoes, dozers, excavators, graders and dump trucks.
Vancouver Island University’s Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate Program provides the foundation for success in this industry. This program provides intensive, hands-on, real-life training in the operation of heavy equipment, routine maintenance of machinery, and the practical field operations of excavating, land clearing, grading and road building.
It includes the Road Builder & Heavy Construction Foundation (4 weeks), the HEO Technician (5 weeks) and Machine Operator Training (1-8 weeks) for a total of 10-17 weeks of instruction.
VIU also offers Specialized Machine Operator Training, Driver Training and customized training at employer sites. Find out more at a free information session on Wednesday, March 1, 6:30 – 8 pm in Building 180, Room 134 on VIU’s Nanaimo Campus.
