The Vining Street Party on the Plaza (VS-POP) is an annual day long celebration of community. It includes food, music and entertainment, family activities, a charitable silent auction and a community market for local artisans and businesses. This year the event will take place on Sunday September 13, 2015 from 2 p.m to 9 p.m.

The residents of Vining Street host this community celebration and fundraiser. The event is volunteer driven and relies solely on the patronage of our donors, sponsors and you, the public. We began in 2008 as the Vining Street Block Party, and by 2012 had expanded to include the rest of Fernwood. In 2013, we moved to the plaza at Victoria High School, necessitating our name change.

The event is admission free and everyone is welcome. Kid's can take part in face painting, finger painting, hulu hooping and puppetry demonstrations. We also offer demonstrations of activities such as yoga, dance and martial arts.

There is LIVE music from 2 to 9. There is family friendly fare in the afternoon, in addition to children's entertainers wandering through the crowd. After 6, the music gets louder, the tempo gets more upbeat and there is dancing on the plaza.

The giant Silent Auction runs from 2 p.m until 6 p.m. The owners if winning bids will be contacted to arrange payment and pick-up. Alternatively, items can be picked up on site (cash or cheque) at the end of the party, around 9 p.m.
