Celebrate The Video Store Experience!
VIDEO STORE DAY was started 6 years ago by Eyesore Cinema in Toronto (the rationale being “Why should record stores have all the fun?”) It is a celebration of the “Home Video Experience”, and the importance of the independently owned video rental service.
This year will see iconic Victoria video store PIC-A-FLIC VIDEO join in this celebration. The store will be the venue for afternoon musical performances by local bands MY BOULDER HOUSE, THE CAVALEROS, and a special acoustic performance by ROB NESBITT (former Pic-A-Flic owner/BUM/THE SUITE SIXTEEN)
Princessess from ENCHANTED FABLES will be stopping by in the morning to say hello to all, and pose for photos. FACECANDY will on hand to provide facepainting. Free popcorn, give-a-ways, and a raffle for prizes including art donated by TROUNCE ALLEY GALLERY will make this a fun filled event for everyone!
PIC-A-FLIC VIDEO has been in operation in the Cook Street Village for over 30 years. As technology advances at a rapid pace, and the bombardment of digital content becomes overwhelming, PIC-A-FLIC offers a delightfully “old school” alternative to seeing a movie.
With a library of over ten thousand titles from Hollywood and around the world, spanning back to the dawn of Cinema, PIC-A-FLIC has more than just unbeatable selection to offer. Human interaction. Face to face recommendations. Community. This is what a video store is. This is why we celebrate it.
