The Victoria Soul Gospel Choir's Christmas Benefit Concert is our biggest event each year. We partner with a community non-profit organization to help raise awareness and financial support for the work they do in our community.
This year's concert is in support of the VICTORIA THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSOCIATION whose mission is "to provide a therapeutic horseback riding program for children and adults with disabilities that promotes and enriches their physical, psychological and social well-being."
The VTRA has 4 programs going...
- riding and skills for gross motor, fine motor and communication for children and adults w special needs
- early intervention program for preschoolers w special needs run w physic I put from QA
- barn management program for life skills students from Sooke school district
- equine wellness therapy for people w emotional issues
The dynamic and high-energy Victoria Soul Gospel Choir delivers the sounds of Motown, R&B, Gospel, and Reggae in five-part harmony with choreography under the direction of Checo Tohomaso, who has performed with Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie and the Commodores, bringing that authentic Motown sound to our music. We deliver a positive vibe that lifts the spirit and provides comfort and support to those in need. We share the profits of all our self-produced concerts with like-minded non-profit charitable organizations. What people have said about our choir and concerts: "It was such a treat. Really one of the highlights of the season for me." "Your performance was amazing! It's the first time I've seen the audience stand up and participate."
