Victoria Philharmonic Choir presents The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace

Originally dedicated to victims of the Kosovo crisis, now one of the most often-performed choral works in the world, this powerful piece by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins reflects on the horrors of war and the hope for peace. The mass begins and ends with the theme from a 15th century folk song, L'Homme Armé, and incorporates texts from different spiritual traditions - the Bible, an Islamic call to prayer, and the ancient Sanskrit epic, the Mahabharata. At this performance, just before Remembrance Day, VPC is thrilled to be collaborating with the renowned Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy.
