Victoria JazzFest presents George Colligan Quartet at Hermann's Jazz Club on June 27.
Veteran jazz artist George Colligan is a pianist, organist and composer. Classically trained, he spent a lot of time in New York where he collaborated with such artists as Phil Woods, Lee Konitz, Nicholas Payton and Cassandra Wilson. An award-winning composer, Colligan has released 21 CDs as a leader and as a sideman. Colligan is an eclectic stylist who incorporates such diverse influences as funk, show tunes and modern classical approaches into his headily engaging and technically impressive compositions. www.georgecolligan.com
