About A. W. Cardinal
Alexander Wesley Cardinal, a M�tis of Cree heritage, is an old-school itinerant musician who plays a mix of old Delta blues, swing-blues, jazz, and ragtime. A guitarist, harp player and singer, Cardinal is backed up by Jasmine Colette on upright bass, foot percussion, and vocals. Although influenced by the likes of Skip James and Memphis Minnie, Cardinal mostly sings his own songs, hooking the audience with great stories and heartfelt playing. Together they share a kindred appreciation of antiquated music, deeply influenced by artists such as Lonnie Johnson, Eddie Lang, Blind Willie Mctell, Leroy Carr, and Django Reinhardt.
