Victoria Genealogical Society workshop - Writing Biographies of your Ancestors. Presented by Kathleen Lowe.
Youve been researching your ancestors for months or maybe years. You have reams of information including charts and graphs. Its been a rewarding process, but all you have to show for your work is a dry list of names, dates and places. What you actually want is a story that tells others what the persons life was about. Your genealogy program can even supply you with a readymade outline. But how do you take all that raw data and turn it into a biography, even a short one?
This workshop will present ways of stringing together genealogy data into a story by creating transitions, adding context, and applying themes. Bring a genealogy report for one of your ancestors to use as an outline or use a sample provided. Worksheets will be provided for the exercise sessions.
